2020

04/29/2020: Congratulation to Dr. Aoyuan Cui for that her paper entitled “The effects of B1344, a novel fibroblast growth factor 21 analog, on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in nonhuman primates” published in Diabetes. The study characterizes beneficial effects of a novel FGF21 analog B1344 on lowering hepatic steatosis, fibrosis and inflammation, and on protecting against the progression of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in rodents and nonhuman primates. This study was finished through a collaboration with Tasly Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd and Kunming Biomed International (KBI), and is highlighted by Commentary: Kleinert M, Muller TD. A new FGF21 analog for the treatment of fatty liver disease. Diabetes. 2020, 69(8).

05/06/2020: Congratulation to Aoyuan Cui for receiving Excellent Merit Student award (三好学生标兵), SINH, CAS, and Yaqian Xue for receiving Merit Student award (三好学生), SINH, CAS.

06/05/2020: Congratulation to Dr. Jinyun Bai for that his paper entitled “Thrombospondin1 improves hepatic steatosis in diet-induced insulin-resistant mice and are associated with hepatic fat content in humans” published in EBioMedicine.

This study sought to discover novel secreted proteins in humans that are associated with hepatic fat content using unbiased proteomic profiling strategy, and reveal how the identified thrombospondin 1 (Thbs1) modulates lipid metabolism and hepatic steatosis. The study characterizes pharmacological administration of recombinant human Thbs1 attenuates hepatic steatosis in diet-induced obese mice. Mechanistically, hepatic CD36 is necessary for Thbs1 protein or peptide mimetic ABT-526 to inhibit SREBP-1 cleavage and target lipogenic gene expression. This study was finished through a collaboration with Dr. Xin Gao at Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University.
