Puyuan grew up in the historic city of Xi'an, known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant food culture, and received his bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Engineering from Northwest A&F University. Then he joined the Li Lab to pursue his PhD studies in 2024, driven by his passion for exploring innovative solutions to complex problems in health.
His research interests focus on the intersections of metabolic health and nutrition, particularly in the context of MASH (metabolic-associated steatohepatitis) and MAFLD (metabolic-associated fatty liver disease). He is keen on applying advanced analytical techniques and multidisciplinary approaches to uncover the molecular mechanisms linking diet, metabolism, and liver health, aiming to contribute to the development of novel dietary strategies and therapeutic interventions.
Puyuan is a collaborative and curious person who try to find some creative ways to integrate his love of biomedical science into his research. Beyond the lab, he enjoys swimming, playing basketball and online games. During holiday, he loves hiking, skiing, and discovering the beautiful scenery of every city he visits. Whether he's deep in thought over experimental data or sharing a meal with friends, Puyuan approaches life with a warm and open-minded spirit, always eager to learn and explore.
