Yuzhen was born in Zhejiang Province. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Food Science and Engineering from Jiangsu University. In September 2025, she went to Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences to pursue her master's degree and joined the Li lab.

Her research interests are mainly focused on dietary nutrition and health, especially its link with chronic disease prevention, as well as the R&D of functional foods and their systematic evaluation through in vitro and in vivo experiments.

In daily life, she is an outgoing and communicative girl. She enjoys traveling around different places, capturing the local scenery, culture and delicacies with her camera, and occasionally making vlogs to share her travel experiences. She loves small animals and often feeds the cats in the campus. In addition, she is eager to try new things and holds the belief that even a short-lived interest brings its own gains—for instance, she has recently been trying her hand at keeping a diary, cooking and learning to play the drum kit.
